Cross Selling y Up Selling: Aliados de tu negocio online

Habrás oído hablar de cross selling y up selling para aumentar las ventas de tu ecommerce. ¿Pero sabes qué son y cómo aplicarlas correctamente?

Toda empresa que quiera crecer, debe contar con una oferta amplia de productos y servicios y no centrarse únicamente en un tipo de solución que ofrecer a sus clientes. Cómo dice el dicho: “no poner todos los huevos en la misma canasta”

Sí ofrecemos solo una opción, y no le cierra a nuestro consumidor, no tendremos nada más que ofrecerle. Y en ese caso, se irá con la competencia.   

Hay que tener siempre un abanico de opciones . Fidelizar un cliente es un 80%  por ciento más rentable que salir a buscar un cliente nuevo.  El Cross Selling y el Up Selling van a ser dos aliados imprescindibles para tu ecommerce porque te ayudará a obtener más ingresos de los clientes existentes y mejorará la experiencia de los usuarios en tu tienda. 

¿Qué es el Cross Selling?

La venta cruzada consiste en ofrecer a tu cliente un producto adicional  complementario a su intención de compra inicial, haya finalizado su compra o no.

Por ejemplo,  tu cliente está comprando unas zapatillas en tu tienda online y después de tenerlas en el carrito, cuando está a punto de pagar, le aparecen  unas medias o una gorra que irían espectacular con las zapatillas.

De todas formas, no es necesario que esperes al final de la compra para aplicarlo. Puedes introducirlo a lo largo de las distintas fases que recorre el cliente en tu tienda online. Puedes sumarlo en la ficha del producto, por ejemplo, para que el usuario pueda saber desde un principio qué le va genial y lo sume al carrito.

Otra estrategia es ponerlo cuando ya lo pone en el carrito de compra, junto con un mensaje sutil que diga, por ejemplo, “ya que has sumado X, te recomendamos que lleves Y o Z”. o “ gente que ha comprado X también ha llevado Y o Z”.

Cuando pones un Cross Selling en el carrito de compras, es decir cuando el cliente ha añadido ya el producto elegido, se puede incluir una oferta especial o un descuento por anexar un producto. En este caso puede aparecer un mensaje tipo “ Te recomendamos que agregues al carrito Y o Z y accedas a un descuento exclusivo”  o  “ Si sumas Y o Z a esta compra, los gastos de envío son gratuitos” por ejemplo. 

También podemos usar Cross Selling cuando la compra ya fue realizada:  enviamos la confirmación de compra a su email y  pueden aparecer imágenes de los productos complementarios. Así tendrá el recordatorio de lo que le hará falta y puede volver en otro momento si lo desea a nuestra tienda. 

¿Qué es Up Selling o venta adicional?

El Up Selling se centra en conseguir que nuestro cliente adquiera una mejora a lo que ya tiene o va a comprar. O sea un upgrade de lo que originalmente pensaba comprar. Esta técnica también puede servir para mejorar la experiencia del usuario y ofrecer una ayuda más completa, con todo el valor que una marca es capaz de brindar.

Vamos a usar el ejemplo de negocio de venta de Notebooks o tecnología.  El usuario elige una computadora con 4 Gb y yo le ofrezco una de 8 Gb o un procesador mejor.  Así, lo llevamos a una compra más costosa pero que incluye una mejora o una optimización. 

El Up Selling puede  hacerse en las distintas etapas del recorrido de compra del cliente en tu ecommerce.

En toda estrategia, el Up Selling debe estar presente en el comienzo, cuando se pone la configuración del producto , mostrando un display con las características especiales y las variaciones que existen del mismo producto. Cuando el cliente ya puso el producto en el carrito, podemos recordarle con un pop up, por ejemplo, que “existe un mismo producto con X mejoras por un precio superior X”.

Como puedes ver, en el mundo del Cross y el Up Selling , existen varias maneras de aumentar las ventas de tu tienda online. Combinadas  o por separado, sin dudas te serán de mucha utilidad. Lo importante es pensar en la estrategia que mejor se adapta a tu producto o servicio.
